Cookie Policy
Effective date: 22 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Plate Circle uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and app, and the choices you have.
1. About this policy
1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how Plate Circle Ltd ("Plate Circle", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Plate Circle website and app (the "Platform"). It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1.2 We use cookies in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR. Where the law requires your consent, we will ask for it before setting non-essential cookies.
2. What cookies are
2.1 Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site recognise your device, remember your actions and preferences, and function correctly.
2.2 We also use similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels and SDKs, and references to "cookies" in this policy include these.
2.3 Cookies may be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a provider we use), and session (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent (remaining until they expire or you delete them).
3. The categories of cookies we use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies, required for the Platform to work, including signing in, keeping your session secure, processing payments and preventing fraud. These do not require consent.
| Cookie / source | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
Supabase auth (e.g. sb-<project>-auth-token, stored in local storage) | Keep you signed in; maintain a secure session | First-party | Until sign-out or token expiry |
Stripe (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid) | Payment processing and fraud prevention on checkout pages | Third-party | __stripe_mid up to 1 year; __stripe_sid 30 minutes |
| Plate Circle cookie-consent preference | Remember your cookie choices | First-party | 6 months |
3.2 Functional / preference cookies, remember choices you make (such as recently viewed plates or display preferences) to improve your experience.
| Cookie / source | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plate Circle UI preferences (local storage) | Remember non-essential interface preferences (e.g. dismissed banners) | First-party | Persistent until cleared by you |
3.3 Analytics / performance cookies, help us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it. Set only with your consent.
| Cookie / source | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_<container>, _gid, _gat) | Understand how visitors use the Platform (page views, sessions, traffic sources) | Third-party | _ga up to 2 years; _gid 24 hours; _gat 1 minute |
Status: Google Analytics is intended as our analytics provider but is not currently active on the Platform. These cookies will only be set once Google Analytics is enabled and the consent banner described in section 5.1 is live.
3.4 Marketing / targeting cookies, used to deliver and measure marketing. Set only with your consent.
Status: Plate Circle does not currently set marketing or targeting cookies. If we introduce them in future, we will list them here and request your consent first.
4. Third-party cookies
4.1 Some cookies are set by third parties who provide services on the Platform, such as our payment provider (Stripe) and our hosting / authentication provider (Supabase, used by Lovable Cloud). These providers process data under their own privacy and cookie policies.
4.2 We do not control third-party cookies and recommend reviewing those providers' policies for detail.
5. Your choices and how to manage cookies
5.1 Consent banner. Google Analytics and any future marketing cookies will only be set after a cookie consent banner is live and you opt in. Until then, the Platform only uses strictly necessary cookies described in section 3.1, which do not require consent under PECR.
5.2 Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Platform working (for example, you may not be able to stay signed in or complete a payment).
5.3 Withdrawing consent. Once a consent banner is live, you can withdraw consent to non-essential cookies at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies already set, which you can clear via your browser.
6. Changes to this policy
6.1 We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. We will publish the updated version with a new effective date and, where required, ask for your consent again.
