1 LUD private number plate

1 LUD is a distinctive four-character dateless UK private number plate. Its compact format and simple number-letter structure contribute to its strong visual appeal. The number 1 holds a special place in the hierarchy of registrations, often seen as a pinnacle for any associated initials.

The plate is presented in a one number followed by three letters format, with the single digit 1 preceding the letters LUD. This arrangement makes it a strong candidate for buyers seeking initial-based registrations. The letters LUD themselves represent a niche but focused set of initials.

As a dateless registration, 1 LUD does not show a year identifier, giving it the clean, timeless look associated with early British number plates. These types of registrations are highly valued for their simplicity, historical connection, and their ability to avoid revealing the age of a vehicle. The plate was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2019. It sold for £7,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £9,850.
