1 LUF private number plate

1 LUF is a highly distinctive dateless registration, featuring a single number paired with three letters in a format that does not show a year identifier. Its short, four-character layout is clean and impactful, and the number 1 holds a special place in the hierarchy of UK private plates. As the pinnacle number, it represents the definitive choice for many initial sets, carrying a unique appeal due to its brevity and prominence.

The format of the registration, with a number first followed by letters, is historically significant within the dateless era of UK registrations. This style is associated with the earliest registration formats and its survival today adds a layer of collector interest. The "LUF" initials offer potential for personalisation for individuals with those specific initials, representing a niche but dedicated buyer audience.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2023, indicating its entry into the consumer market at that recent date. It sold for £9,920 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £12,737.
