1 LXX private number plate

The registration 1 LXX presents a compelling format, combining the pinnacle number one with a three-letter sequence. This structure, featuring a single digit followed by three letters, is a distinct and desirable characteristic for many buyers, particularly those seeking a short, impactful registration. The four-character length contributes to its clean aesthetic and memorability. As a dateless registration, it possesses the timeless look associated with earlier UK number plates, avoiding the year identifier present on more contemporary formats. The XX initials have niche demand, suggesting a more selective buyer pool.

The number 1 holds a special status among UK registrations, often seen as the definitive choice for initials or specific numerical sequences. When paired with initials, a number 1 plate is generally considered significantly more sought after than duplicates featuring higher numbers. This plate, with its distinct number 1 and short four-character layout, aligns with the established appeal of earlier, more compact registration styles.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2018. It sold for £7,100 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £9,202.
