1 NXU private number plate

1 NXU presents a striking number plate with a straightforward format and significant appeal. As a dateless registration, it does not show a year identifier, offering a clean look that is highly favoured by collectors. The number 1 is placed at the beginning, followed by three letters, NXU. This ‘number-letter’ direction is characteristic of earlier registrations, contributing to its timeless aesthetic.

The inclusion of the number 1 establishes 1 NXU as the definitive plate for the initials NXU. Number 1 holds a unique status, being significantly more sought after than subsequent numbers in a sequence for any set of initials. This makes 1 NXU a representation of the pinnacle for NXU, offering a strong foundation for personal identification or brand representation.

The ‘one number followed by three letters’ format, comprising four characters, is compact and easily read. Such short registrations typically carry a strong appeal due to their visual balance and memorability, a characteristic noted in analyses of sold registrations. The initials NXU themselves are considered niche in demand, suggesting a degree of rarity, though the presence of the number 1 elevates the overall market appeal considerably.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2025. It sold for £8,610 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £11,055.
