1 OAO private number plate

1 OAO presents a clean and striking four-character format, featuring a single digit followed by three letters. The prominent number 1 at the beginning of this dateless registration signifies its pinnacle status within its initial set, positioning it as a highly desirable choice for those seeking ultimate personal identification. This arrangement offers a distinct appearance that does not show a year identifier, giving it the enduring appeal associated with dateless registrations. Originally issued in Birmingham, the 'O' historically relates to the West Midlands region.

The initials OAO offer a broad appeal for personal identification, and this format is a recognised category for those prioritising short, personalised registrations. Dateless registrations from this era, particularly those with numbers-first layouts that have survived, hold significant historical and collector interest. This plate's concise four-character composition is typically sought after for its legibility and distinctive aesthetic.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2017. It sold for £8,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £10,368.
