1 OBJ private number plate

1 OBJ presents a highly sought-after short, dateless registration, a format that has historically appealed to collectors due to its clean aesthetic and rarity. The number 1 holds a special significance for number plates, often considered the pinnacle for any set of initials, making this registration particularly desirable. Its four-character length contributes to a memorable and distinctive feel.

As a dateless registration, 1 OBJ does not show a year identifier, offering a timeless look. Such plates originate from an earlier era of UK vehicle registration, before the introduction of date-specific letter codes. This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £4,400 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £5,702.

The initials OBJ offer a broad appeal for personal identification, aligning with the common motivation for acquiring a private number plate, as highlighted by DVLA surveys. The number 1 is paramount for initials, representing the definitive choice for anyone using these letters, and is generally more sought after than the equivalent number 2 or higher. Historically, shorter registrations tend to attract stronger market interest and collector appeal.
