1 OGC private number plate

1 OGC is a four-character dateless registration. Its prominent number 1 offers immediate visual appeal, marking it as the pinnacle for any initials it may represent. This format, with a single number followed by three letters, is a short and distinctive configuration, offering a cleaner look for a private registration. The format itself is associated with the earliest eras of UK vehicle registration, with dateless plates from this period generally holding significant collector interest.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2018. It sold for £12,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £15,552. It is from a number-letter dateless style that was once common across the West Riding of Yorkshire. Such dateless registrations from the circa 1953 to 1963 window, with their relatively short character count and absence of an age identifier, are highly valued by collectors. The number 1 in particular carries distinctive appeal, often signifying leadership or precedence.

The initials OGC are a decent set, likely to appeal to individuals seeking a personal connection. The combination of the leading number 1 with these initials suggests a plate with broad potential for personal branding or initial representation. The short, fours-character layout contributes to its overall memorability and desirable aesthetics.
