1 OOB private number plate

The registration 1 OOB offers a distinctive combination of a prominent number and a neat three-letter sequence. As a dateless registration, it possesses the clean, timeless look associated with earlier vehicle registration styles. This format, featuring a single number followed by three letters, is a compact four-character design, making it highly recognisable and easy to remember.

The number 1 holds a special appeal in the world of private registrations, often regarded as the definitive choice when paired with initials. Its presence lends a significant sense of prestige and primacy. The initials OOB are described as having decent, or estimated above average, popularity, suggesting a broad potential audience of buyers looking for a strong personal or brand identifier.

Issued broadly between 1953 and 1963, dateless registrations of this nature have a strong appeal to collectors. The format itself, with the number preceding the letters, aligns with earlier registration conventions, and its survival from the classic dateless era adds to its historic interest. This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £10,800 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,997.
