1 OYC private number plate

1 OYC is a four-character dateless UK private registration with a number-first format. Its short, tidy layout and the prominent inclusion of the number 1 contribute to its strong market appeal. As the pinnacle number for any set of initials, number 1 plates are a distinct class, significantly more sought after than those featuring number 2 or higher.

The registration comprises a single number followed by three letters: O Y C. These initials, while niche in demand, offer a clean and direct personal identification for the owner. The overall format, one number followed by three letters, is a well-understood and desirable style within the dateless registration market, particularly for its compact appearance. Registrations of this style, the letters-first dateless format in particular, are often associated with the earliest periods of UK vehicle registration, adding a layer of historical context to their aesthetic.

This particular registration, 1 OYC, was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £5,800 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £7,517. Although its format mirrors earlier dateless plates, its provenance traces back to this auction event.

1 OYC presents a clean, four-character dateless format, making it an attractive option for those seeking a concise and visually appealing registration. The number 1 at the start of the registration is a key feature, denoting its status as the lead number for the OYC initials.
