1 RPX private number plate

The number 1 holds a distinct place in the hierarchy of UK private registrations, and 1 RPX leads with this exclusive appeal. As a dateless registration, it offers a clean, timeless look associated with earlier issue periods, and its four-character format is notably short and striking. The presence of the number 1 for a set of initials such as RPX makes it significantly more sought after than if it featured a higher number, such as 2 RPX.

Such short, dateless registrations are typically of great interest to collectors and those seeking a distinctive personal mark. The RPX initials themselves represent a niche demand, meaning this plate offers a rare combination of paramount number and specific initial set.

This registration can be read as 1 RPX. The format of one number followed by three letters is clear and easy to recall, a characteristic of desirable dateless plates. While no specific name or word reading is obvious, the strength lies in its structure and the unparalleled appeal of the number 1.

The registration 1 RPX was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £6,200 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,035.
