1 TDY private number plate

1 TDY is a four-character dateless registration with a numbers-first format. The number 1 holds a unique position in the collector market, representing the pinnacle for any initials set. Combined with the short, clean layout of a four-character plate, this registration offers significant appeal. The dateless format provides a timeless aesthetic, sought after for its historical connection to earlier registration eras.

The initials TDY present a niche but defined set, likely appealing to individuals with those specific initials. The "TDY" combination works well as a personal identifier, reflecting the primary motivation for many private registration buyers.

This registration was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £18,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £23,717. The format is associated with dateless registrations, which originate from a period before year identifiers were introduced. Registrations from this era, particularly those with a numbers-first arrangement, are highly regarded.
