1 TNL private number plate

1 TNL is a distinctive four-character dateless registration. The format pairs a single number with three letters, a layout that offers a clean and uncluttered appearance. As a dateless plate, it does not show a year identifier, contributing to the timeless look associated with these earlier registration styles.

The number 1 holds a unique position in the hierarchy of UK private registrations. When paired with initials, number 1 is considered the pinnacle, significantly more sought after than the same initials with a number 2 or any higher number. This makes 1 TNL a particularly appealing example for collectors and individuals seeking a special registration. The short format also enhances its desirability, as fewer characters tend to offer a more concise and impactful display.

This registration was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £6,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,165.
