1 UCO private number plate

1 UCO is a distinctive four-character dateless UK number plate. Its number-first, three-letter format, one number followed by three letters, presents a concise and easily readable registration. The number 1 holds a special place in the hierarchy of private plates, often considered the pinnacle for any initials it appears with, signalling a premier selection.

The registration 1 UCO was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £8,260 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £10,606. While its dateless appearance and layout are reminiscent of earlier registration styles, this specific registration's provenance traces back to this more recent sale. The UCO initials, while considered niche in terms of broad popularity, offer a unique identifier for a personal connection.

The dateless format of 1 UCO means it does not show a year identifier, giving it the clean look associated with dateless registrations. This style of registration typically appeals to buyers who value timeless aesthetics and a straightforward personal mark. Registrations with a low number like 1, especially when paired with initials, often attract significant buyer interest.

This plate was first entered into circulation through a DVLA auction in 2021. It has been noted that dateless registrations with one or two letters and a single number are among the most desirable historic formats. The structure of 1 UCO, being short and beginning with the number 1, aligns with these desirable characteristics often sought by collectors.
