1 UOG private number plate

1 UOG is a dateless private registration with a single number followed by three letters. Its format is concise, comprising just four characters. As a number 1 plate, it holds a particular significance for collectors looking for the pinnacle of numerical appeal. The structure of having the number first, followed by letters, is typically associated with the earliest periods of UK registration history from around the mid-1950s to early 1960s, a style that has long been favoured for its classic simplicity.

The appeal of 1 UOG is primarily driven by its prominent '1', signalling it as the definitive number for the initials UOG. This format, with its short, clean layout, holds considerable collector interest. The initials UOG themselves are noted as niche, suggesting a more exclusive pool of potential owners. This plate was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024, offering a unique opportunity to acquire a registration that offers both numerical prominence and the clean aesthetic of early dateless issues. It sold for £6,510 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,359.
