1 XCW private number plate

1 XCW is a striking four-character dateless registration. Its format, one number followed by three letters, presents a single number followed by three letters, a layout that has always been highly regarded for its clean aesthetic and concise character. The prominent number 1 at the beginning of the plate is a significant draw for many buyers, representing a pinnacle position and often sought after for its symbolic value.

As a dateless registration, 1 XCW does not show a year identifier, giving it the timeless look associated with the earliest UK vehicle registration marks. Registrations from this era are often favoured for their relative scarcity and distinct visual appeal, which contrasts with the structured formats of later issues. The XCW initials are considered to have niche, low demand, suggesting a unique appeal to a select group of buyers.

The registration was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in May 2023. It sold for £7,460 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £9,579.
