11 BUX private number plate

11 BUX presents a classic, attention-grabbing format with its closely aligned numbers and letters. The registration features a matched pair of identical digits, the number 11, immediately followed by three letters, BUX. This configuration is concise, with five characters in total, and offers a strong visual presence. The repeated digits contribute to its memorability and distinctiveness, a characteristic often favoured by collectors.

As a dateless registration, 11 BUX does not display a year identifier, lending it the clean look associated with earlier UK number plates. The format of two numbers followed by three letters has a distinct style, and this particular example originates from Northumberland, a detail that adds a layer of historical context for collectors interested in regional origins. The plate was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2025. It sold for £22,250 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £27,501.

For buyers seeking initials, BUX presents a more niche but specific option. While the letters BUX may not correspond to the most common surnames or first names, they offer a unique personal identifier for those whose initials match or for individuals associated with the name. The earlier registry note from DVLA also indicated that personal connections, particularly names or initials, are the leading motivator for acquiring a private registration.
