123 LB private number plate

123 LB is a dateless private registration with a five-character layout, featuring three numbers followed by two letters. This format is associated with the earliest registration eras in the UK vehicle registration system, and its survival adds historic collector interest. The clear number sequence of 123, showing an ascending run, is a strong visual pattern. Combined with the ‘LB’ initials, this combination offers appeal to buyers looking for a distinctive and memorable personal registration.

The ‘LB’ initials are estimated to have strong appeal, suggesting a broader potential buyer pool. Dateless registrations, particularly those with fewer characters and established formats like this three-number, two-letter style, are a distinct category for collectors. This plate was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2022. It sold for £10,450 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,418.
