About private number plate 16 OD
16 OD is a dateless registration featuring two numbers followed by two letters, presenting a clean four-character format. Its two numbers followed by two letters layout offers a balanced and easily recognisable structure. This registration is recognised as a dateless plate, meaning it does not show a year identifier and has the timeless look associated with dateless registrations. Dateless plates are typically more sought after due to their historical appeal and flexible assignment potential.
The registration 16 OD is a direct match for the initials OD. Initials-based plates are a significant driver of demand for private registrations, with personal significance often being the primary motivation for buyers. The OD initials are considered mid-market in terms of popularity, suggesting a broad potential audience.
This dateless registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in September 2019. It sold for £23,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £29,808.
Plate Circle brings together number plate history, value context, for sale listings, spotted records and verified sold-price history where available.
