16 OSS private number plate

16 OSS is a dateless registration with a clear format: two numbers followed by three letters. This straightforward layout results in a five-character plate that is easily recognisable. Its number sequence, 16, is a relatively low number within the two-digit band, generally appealing to those who prefer shorter, less numerically prominent dateless registrations. The initials "OSS" are considered to have decent popularity, suggesting a broad potential buyer base.

As a dateless registration, 16 OSS does not show a year identifier, contributing to its timeless appeal. Dateless plates, particularly those from the earlier eras, are typically sought after by collectors. The format, with numbers preceding letters, is a classic style that originated at the beginning of the UK’s registration system. Although not a cherished registration, its dateless nature and clear structure provide a solid foundation for personalisation.

The plate was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2026. It sold for £14,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £17,316.
