2 EFO private number plate

2 EFO is a four-character dateless registration with a single number followed by three letters. This format offers a clean and visually appealing layout, with the number 2 positioned at the start, ahead of the three letters EFO. Dateless registrations do not show a year identifier, giving them the timeless look associated with older registration styles. The inherent rarity of such short, dateless plates contributes to their collector appeal.

The number 2 holds a distinct position within the hierarchy of dateless registrations. While not the ultimate lead number, it significantly outperforms higher numbers. The "one number followed by three letters" layout, as seen with 2 EFO, is generally more sought after than comparable "three letters followed by one number" formats because it is associated with earlier issue periods and has a greater historical resonance.

The initials EFO are categorised as mid-market in terms of popularity. This suggests a reasonable breadth of potential buyers across the UK who might be drawn to this registration for personal reasons, such as a surname or forename. DVLA surveys have indicated that personal connections, particularly names or initials, are the leading motivations for individuals acquiring a private registration.

This plate was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2025. It sold for £4,710 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £6,048.
