2 FWS private number plate

2 FWS is a four-character dateless registration. This short format offers a clean and memorable reading, with fewer digits often leading to stronger collector appeal. The plate combines a single low number with three distinct letters, presenting a straightforward number-letter combination. The number 2 is of particular interest as it represents a very low number, typically holding appeal due to its visual compactness and early position in the numbering sequence.

The initials FWS are considered to have decent popularity, suggesting a broader potential audience of buyers. This type of registration, featuring distinct initials, is often sought by individuals looking for a personalised mark that relates to their name, a business, or a chosen phrase. The structure of 2 FWS lends itself well to being perceived as an initials-based plate, aligning with common motivations for acquiring a private registration.

Historically, the style of dateless registration seen in 2 FWS, where numbers precede letters, is associated with an older era of vehicle registration. Such plates do not show a year identifier and possess the timeless look associated with dateless registrations. This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £6,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £7,717.
