2 HDX private number plate

The registration 2 HDX presents a compact, four-character format with a single number followed by three letters. This layout, a 'numbers-first' dateless style, is associated with an earlier era of vehicle registration, with similar formats broadly originating between circa 1953 and 1963. The plate was first released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2016. It sold for £1,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £1,685.

As a dateless registration, 2 HDX does not display a year identifier and offers the clean look associated with registrations from that period. The single digit '2' at the beginning is historically considered highly desirable, generally outranking plates with higher numbers or a greater quantity of digits. This also contributes to its shorter, streamlined profile.

The initials HDX offer potential for personalisation, catering to owners whose names or brands align with these letters. This type of registration is particularly appealing to buyers prioritising personal initials, reflecting a significant motivation for many private plate acquisitions.

The registration 2 HDX was first offered through a DVLA auction in May 2016.
