2 MXE private number plate

2 MXE is a four-character dateless UK private registration. As a numbers-first dateless plate, it has the clean look associated with dateless registrations and is a compact four characters in length. Its format, one number followed by three letters, is a recognisable style within the dateless era.

The number 2 is a very low number, typically sought after for its minimalist appeal. The "MXE" initials represent a niche to low demand set, suggesting a more unique buyer pool for this particular combination. Such registrations can appeal to individuals seeking personal initials that are less commonly encountered.

Historically, dateless registrations from the period spanning approximately 1953 to 1963, particularly those in a numbers-first format, are distinguished by their absence of an age identifier. This is a format that has long been associated with the earliest registration eras in the UK.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2018. It sold for £2,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £2,981.
