2 ORM private number plate

The registration 2 ORM is a short, four-character dateless plate, featuring one number followed by three letters. Dateless formats do not show a year identifier, offering a timeless aesthetic. This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2017. It sold for £10,100 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,090.

The plate begins with the number 2, a low single digit which creates a clean, concise look. Single-digit numbers are generally more sought after than those with multiple digits, and numbers in the 2 to 9 range typically carry stronger appeal than higher numbers when letters and format are comparable. The three-letter combination ORM could appeal to those with matching initials. Initials such as ORM are considered to have decent appeal, indicating a broader potential audience.

A dateless format with the structure of a number followed by letters, such as 2 ORM, is a style broadly associated with registrations first issued from around 1953 to 1963. This particular plate, however, first entered circulation through a DVLA auction in 2017.
