About private number plate 2 OVY
The dateless UK registration 2 OVY presents a format with one number followed by three letters, creating a short and memorable four-character plate. This layout is similar in style to registrations first issued from around 1953 to 1963, though this specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £3,730 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £4,789.
The number 2 is a single-digit number, which tends to be more sought after than double or triple-digit numbers. Fewer digits also contribute to a shorter, cleaner registration. The OVY letters provide initials, which often appeal to individuals or families sharing those initials. The initials OVY have niche low demand according to Plate Circle's estimates.
Plate Circle brings together number plate history, value context, for sale listings, spotted records and verified sold-price history where available.
