2 PFO private number plate

2 PFO presents a clean, four-character dateless format, with a single digit followed by three letters. The number 2 holds a prime position, offering a clear reading and a desirable short configuration. Dateless registrations like this typically hold appeal for a wide audience, as they do not show a year identifier and possess the timeless look associated with earlier registration eras.

The structure of 2 PFO makes it a potential candidate for personal initials, with PFO forming a distinct set. The initials PFO are considered mid-market in terms of popularity, suggesting a solid base of potential interest from individuals or businesses seeking this particular combination. As a dateless mark, it offers a straightforward appearance that is widely recognised and appreciated in the private number plate market.

The use of the number 2 as the lead digit positions this registration within the desirable narrow band of low single digits. Registrations beginning with very low numbers, from 2 to 9, generally carry stronger collector interest than those with higher numbers, owing to their fewer digits and cleaner appearance. The format of one number followed by three letters on 2 PFO is one of the most sought-after dateless plate styles.

This registration was first released to the open market via a DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £1,400 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £1,814.
