2 SAX private number plate

2 SAX is a four-character dateless registration with a number-first, three-letter format. Its short, clean layout is a key element of its appeal. The number 2 in this standalone position typically carries stronger appeal than higher numbers, and fewer digits generally create a more streamlined registration.

As a dateless plate, 2 SAX has the timeless look associated with registrations from an earlier era. Such plates do not show a year identifier, offering a distinct aesthetic. The format, a single number followed by three letters (one number followed by three letters), is a strong pattern. Registrations of this type, particularly those with fewer characters, are generally considered highly desirable.

The initials SAX form a distinct set with niche to low demand. While not among the most common initials, they can appeal to individuals or businesses seeking a specific phonetic or visual identity. The DVLA buyer-motivation survey published in 2019 indicated that personal connections, namely names or initials, were the leading reasons motorists considered a private registration.

2 SAX was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2019. It sold for £4,300 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £5,573.
