22 YS private number plate

22 YS is a compact four-character UK private registration. Its dateless format comprises two numbers followed by two letters, presenting a clean and easily memorable layout. The repetition of identical digits in the '22' provides a pleasing symmetry, a feature often found to enhance visual appeal and collector interest.

As a dateless registration, 22 YS does not show a year identifier and possesses the timeless look associated with earlier UK plates. Its 'two numbers followed by two letters' format is a distinct style, and its brevity contributes to its appeal. Dateless registrations of this type, particularly those with fewer characters, are generally sought after for their classic appearance and lack of chronological association.

The 'YS' initials offer potential for personal significance, appealing to individuals with those initials. While 'YS' may be considered niche in terms of demand, the strength of a short, dateless format often drives interest. Furthermore, the '22' element, as a low number within the double-digit band, aligns with a general preference for lower numerical values on registrations for their perceived rarity and visual impact.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in May 2021. It sold for £6,360 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,166.
