22 YU private number plate

22 YU is a four-character dateless registration in a two-numbers, two-letters format. The clear structure of NN followed by LL offers a concise and visually appealing layout, often sought after by collectors and those looking for easily memorable registrations. The numbers 22 present a matched pair, a stylistic feature that can add to a plate's appeal and symmetry.

As a dateless registration, 22 YU does not show a year identifier, giving it the clean look associated with historic plates. Dateless registrations are recognised for their enduring appeal. The letters YU are described as having very rare initials, suggesting a higher degree of exclusivity and a potentially broader buyer pool when compared to more common initial combinations.

This registration has a documented sale history, having first entered circulation through a DVLA auction in 2022. It sold for £12,320 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £15,819.
