23 DU private number plate

The dateless registration 23 DU offers a concise four-character layout, presented in a straightforward two numbers followed by two letters format. Its short physical presence contributes to a clean aesthetic, a characteristic often sought after in personalised registrations. The number 23 positions it within the lower band of two-digit numbers, and the DU initials represent a niche but potentially appealing combination for specific buyers. This type of registration, with its clear structure and absence of a year identifier, possesses the timeless look associated with dateless plates.

This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2019. It sold for £3,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £3,888. While dateless plates generally fall into the category of owning a piece of motoring history, 23 DU originates from a more recent market introduction. Registrations of this style, featuring two letters and two numbers in a numbers-first arrangement, have historically demonstrated appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers, with personal connections, such as initials, often being a primary motivator.
