24 YA private number plate

24 YA is a four-character dateless UK private number plate with a two-number, two-letter format. Its brevity contributes to a clean, desirable aesthetic, a feature generally favoured by collectors. The layout of two numbers followed by two letters, known as two numbers followed by two letters, is a classic dateless configuration.

The combination of the number 24 and the initials YA offers potential for personalised appeal. Initials are a primary driver for private registration purchases, with DVLA surveys indicating that matching a name or initials is the leading motivation for motorists acquiring a private plate. The 'YA' initials are classified as having niche to low demand, suggesting a degree of rarity for this particular combination.

As a dateless registration, 24 YA does not display a year identifier, affording it the timeless look associated with earlier issue formats. Dateless plates are a distinct category within the UK registration system, and those bearing fewer characters are typically more sought after. In its format as a short, dateless registration, 24 YA aligns with a highly desirable style.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2026. It sold for £15,070 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £18,627.
