3 MLX private number plate

3 MLX is a four-character dateless registration. As a dateless plate, it has the clean look associated with earlier registration eras, and does not show a year identifier. The format is one number followed by three letters, presenting a short and streamlined appearance.

The number 3 is a low number, generally carrying stronger appeal than higher numbers. Dateless registrations with fewer digits are typically considered more desirable, and 3 MLX benefits from its compact four-character length. The initials MLX are assessed as having niche or low demand, indicating a rarer combination.

Broader interest for dateless registrations can come from their historical context. The format dates from around 1953 to 1963, a period associated with the earliest registration styles. Dateless plates from this era are often sought after for their historical appeal.

This specific registration, 3 MLX, was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2022. It sold for £7,360 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £9,450.
