5 YEC private number plate

5 YEC is a four-character dateless registration. Its layout places a single number before three letters, a format often sought after for its concise, clean appearance. The number 5, while not a 1, is a low single digit, generally holding appeal due to its brevity and visual impact in such a short registration. The accompanying letters YEC present a set of initials with a niche demand profile, suggesting a dedicated buyer pool. This combination of a short format, a low single digit, and a specific three-letter set creates a distinct registration with particular appeal to individuals seeking personalised plates.

As a dateless registration, 5 YEC does not show a year identifier, contributing to the timeless aesthetic associated with this style of plate. These marks are from a period predating the current system of year-letter identifiers. This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in May 2023. It sold for £3,030 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £3,891.
