6 NWD private number plate

6 NWD is a four-character dateless registration with a distinctive number-first format. Dateless plates are highly sought after for their clean aesthetic, not displaying a year identifier, lending them a timeless look. Regulations from the Motor Car Act of 1903 established the foundation for UK vehicle registration, and formats like 6 NWD represent an enduring style.

The number 6 at the beginning of the registration adds significant appeal. Lower numbers in dateless registrations typically garner stronger collector interest, and the single-digit 6 is a prime example of this desirability. This short, impactful format is generally favoured for its visual clarity and memorability, a characteristic reinforced by academic analysis indicating shorter registrations can attract stronger market interest.

The initials NWD offer a private personal touch. These initials have broad appeal, fitting into the mid-market category for popularity, suggesting a substantial pool of potential buyers seeking such a combination. This makes 6 NWD a versatile option for individuals with these initials.

This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2020. It sold for £3,400 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £4,366.
