77 XV private number plate

77 XV is a dateless UK private number plate with a clean, short four-character format. Its structure, consisting of two numbers followed by two letters (two numbers followed by two letters), makes it easily recognisable and memorable. The repeated identical digits in '77' add a distinctive visual appeal, a feature often sought after by collectors for its symmetry and rhythm.

As a dateless registration, 77 XV does not display a year identifier, contributing to its timeless aesthetic. The 'XV' initials are considered to have niche demand, suggesting a more exclusive appeal for those seeking a unique identifier rather than a widely common set. Dateless registrations of this format, particularly those with fewer characters, are typically desirable due to their inherent scarcity and classic appearance, mirroring the earliest eras of UK vehicle registration.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024. It sold for £6,110 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £7,845.
