8 HMR private number plate

8 HMR is a four-character dateless registration presented in a number-letter format. Its short, clear layout and single-digit number offer immediate appeal, with the "8" positionally leading the three initials "HMR". The "low number" aspect, especially with a single digit, typically signifies a more sought-after registration.

The plate's dateless style means it does not display a year identifier, providing a timeless look. This format, with a number followed by letters, saw broad issuance from circa 1953 to 1963, though this specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £2,100 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £2,722. The "HMR" initials offer potential for a wide range of personal connections, from first and last names to other meaningful combinations. The DVLA's buyer-motivation surveys have consistently shown personal names and initials as the leading reason for acquiring a private registration, indicating a broad pool of potential interest.

The resale history for 8 HMR includes a sale at a DVLA Auction in September 2015.
