8 MFY private number plate

The 8 MFY registration presents a concise, four-character format, consisting of a single number followed by three letters. This layout is highly desirable, offering a clean and memorable aesthetic. As a dateless registration, it possesses the timeless appeal associated with earlier issue periods, free from any year identifier.

A significant aspect of 8 MFY lies in its standalone low number. The presence of the number 8 at the beginning of the registration contributes to a strong visual presence. This type of numerical lead is often sought after for its distinctiveness. The initials MFY present a more specific appeal, potentially of interest to individuals or businesses whose names or brands correspond with these letters.

Dateless registrations from this era, particularly those with shorter character counts, are generally considered to hold significant collector interest. The format of 8 MFY, being a number-letter-letter-letter configuration, is a classic example of a desirable layout from the early days of vehicle registration in the UK.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015. It sold for £1,100 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £1,426.
