About private number plate 8 MXX
The dateless UK registration 8 MXX is a compact four-character plate with a numbers-first, three-letter format. It has the clean look associated with dateless registrations, offering a timeless appeal that does not show a year identifier. This short layout ensures the registration is easily read and remembered, with the prominent single digit of 8 at the fore.
The initials MXX are described as niche or low demand, suggesting a focused buyer pool, but their unique combination offers strong personalisation potential for an individual. Such registrations often appeal to those seeking a distinct mark that is personal to them.
In terms of market appeal, shorter registrations, such as this four-character example, are generally more sought after. The number 8, as a stand-alone single digit, also contributes to its visual impact and desirability.
8 MXX was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2017. It sold for £2,800 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £3,629.
