About private number plate 8 WJD
8 WJD is a four-character dateless registration. Its number-first, letter-second format, with the single digit 8 followed by the initials WJD, is a clear and desirable arrangement. Number 8, as a low single digit, generally appeals to buyers seeking a compact and impactful registration. The initials WJD offer significant potential for personal use, aligning with the strong buyer preference for registrations that spell out or represent names and initials.
This registration originates from the period when short, dateless plates were issued, a style that continues to hold considerable collector interest. The format, a single number followed by three letters, presents a clean and immediately recognisable appearance. Such shorter registrations tend to be more sought after due to their visual impact and ease of reading.
The plate was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £6,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £7,717.
