8 XXX private number plate

8 XXX presents a straightforward, four-character dateless registration. Its compact layout offers a clean aesthetic, a feature typically sought after for its visual simplicity. The format comprises a single digit followed by three letters, with the prominent number 8 leading the sequence.

The registration's structure, with one number followed by three letters, and the number 8 specifically, positions it as a low-number plate. This type of registration often appeals to collectors who favour shorter, distinctive marks. The presence of three identical trailing letters, XXX, adds a notable element of repetition, creating a rhythmic and memorable quality. Such repetition can enhance the visual appeal and distinctiveness of a registration for a broad audience.

As a dateless registration, 8 XXX does not display a year identifier, contributing to the timeless look associated with these plates. This style is characteristic of registrations issued between approximately 1953 and 1963, a period known for its very short and highly desirable formats. Dateless registrations, particularly those with fewer characters, are often favoured for their historical appeal and classic appearance.

The plate is suitable for those looking for a personal registration based on initials. The XXX component offers a flexible foundation for initial-based readings. This type of registration has the potential to interest buyers seeking a mark that reflects their initials, particularly given the enduring appeal of personal connection in private number plate choices.

8 XXX was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2007. It sold for £6,500 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £8,210.
