85 CV private number plate

The registration 85 CV presents a concise, four-character layout, combining two numbers followed by two letters. This format is often sought after for its brevity and clean aesthetic, which does not show a year identifier. As a dateless registration, it offers a timeless appeal.

The letters CV function as initials, a significant draw for buyers looking for personal identification. The popularity of initials is broad, with a considerable number of people seeking registrations that represent their name or a meaningful connection. For those with CV as their initials, this plate offers a straightforward and distinctive option.

Historically, the CV area code was associated with Truro in Cornwall. While this specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024, its format belongs to a style that was originally issued from around the 1960s onwards, contributing to its classic presentation. It sold for £7,810 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £10,028.

The number 85 places this registration within the double-digit range, a segment generally more desirable than higher numbers due to its shorter string of digits. The appeal of fewer digits is a persistent trend in the private registration market, contributing to a cleaner and more memorable plate.
