About private number plate 87 EJ
87 EJ is a dateless private number plate featuring two numbers followed by two letters. Its short, four-character format offers clean aesthetics, a desirable trait for many collectors. The EJ initials present a good level of popularity, suggesting a potentially broad audience of buyers seeking a personal link through their initials.
The number 87 positions this registration within the desirable lower numbers of the double-digit band, generally seen as more appealing than higher numbers within the same format. Dateless registrations, such as 87 EJ, have the timeless look associated with them because they do not show a year identifier. This style of registration, particularly those with a two-letter, two-number format, historically held significant appeal and finite supply.
This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2021. It sold for £6,010 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £7,717.
