89 OO private number plate

89 OO is a 4-character dateless number plate with a two-numbers-followed-by-two-letters format. It presents a clean and concise registration, a characteristic favoured by many buyers. The plate's appeal is further enhanced by the repetition of identical letters, forming "OO", which offers strong visual symmetry and memorability.

As a dateless registration, 89 OO has the timeless look associated with registrations from an earlier era. The "OO" initials are considered to have mid-market popularity, suggesting a broad potential audience. Such registrations are often sought after by individuals looking for personal initial combinations to represent names or significant associations. The specific format of two numbers followed by two letters, with the lower number 89, aligns with collector preferences for shorter, impactful registrations. Many buyers are drawn to dateless plates for their distinctive aesthetic and perceived rarity.

This specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024. It sold for £22,000 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £28,248.
