9 AJE private number plate

9 AJE offers a compact, four-character format with a distinctive numbers-first dateless layout. This style of registration, with a single digit followed by three letters, is characteristic of an earlier era of UK vehicle identification, and such short, dateless plates generally hold strong appeal for collectors. The number 9 is a low digit within the dateless sequence, and the combination of a low number with three distinct letters creates a clean and memorable registration.

The initials AJE are estimated to have decent popularity, suggesting a broad potential audience of buyers looking for a personal connection. A DVLA survey indicated that personal names or initials are the leading reason motorists consider a private registration. Short, dateless plates like 9 AJE have a timeless look, not showing a year identifier. While the format is associated with registrations issued between 1953 and 1963, this specific registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2006. It sold for £3,700 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £4,673.
