9 EDY private number plate

9 EDY is a four-character dateless registration with a distinct number-first layout. Its format as one number followed by three letters presents a simple and clean aesthetic, which is generally favoured for its visual appeal and memorability. The number 9 at the beginning contributes to its appeal as a low-figure registration, making it stand out when compared to plates with higher numbers. As a dateless registration, it does not show a year identifier, offering a timeless look often sought by collectors.

The initials EDY offer a specific personal connection, making this plate a strong candidate for individuals with those initials. While EDY initials are considered niche-low-demand, the combination with a low, single-digit number like 9 enhances its overall appeal. Dateless registrations of this one number followed by three letters style are historically significant and have a dedicated following among collectors.

This registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in November 2022. It sold for £3,810 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £4,892.
