About private number plate 9 NGL
The short, four-character registration 9 NGL offers a clean and direct format. As a dateless plate, it does not show a year identifier and has the timeless look associated with dateless registrations. The format comprises a single number followed by three letters, presenting the number first.
Number 9 is a low single digit, which generally carries stronger appeal compared to higher numbers. The structure of 9 NGL, with fewer digits, contributes to a shorter and more easily readable registration. The 'NGL' initials have mid-market popularity, suggesting a broader pool of potential buyers.
As a dateless registration, the format of 9 NGL is associated with an earlier era of UK vehicle registration. Registrations from this period, particularly shorter ones with numbers preceding letters, are often sought after by collectors. The plate was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2024. It sold for £10,770 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,829.
