9 UPX private number plate

9 UPX is a four-character dateless registration with a number-letter format. Dateless plates, issued before 1963 and without a year identifier, possess a distinct, timeless appeal. The "9" at the beginning of 9 UPX represents a very low number, which typically appeals to collectors and those seeking a clean, immediately recognisable registration. The short, four-character structure also contributes to its compact and easily memorised appearance.

This registration is structured with a single number followed by three letters, forming the sequence 9 UPX. The initials UPX offer a basis for personal connection, potentially appealing to individuals or businesses with those specific initials. While UPX is considered to have niche-to-low initial demand, the overall appeal of 9 UPX is strengthened by its dateless format and low number. Registrations of this style, especially those featuring fewer characters, are sought after for their classic aesthetic.

The 9 UPX registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2017. It sold for £1,600 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £2,074.
