9 XAR private number plate

9 XAR is a distinctive four-character UK private registration with a numbers-first format. This layout typically holds significant appeal due to its brevity and clean presentation, a characteristic shared with many highly collectible dateless registrations. The registration features a low single digit, the number 9, followed by the letters XAR.

Representing a personal initials set, XAR is considered to be of niche to low demand, suggesting a degree of rarity for those seeking this specific combination. However, the overall desirability of dateless registrations is often driven by their format and character length. The arrangement of one number followed by three letters is a classic, highly recognisable style.

This registration does not show a year identifier, contributing to the clean look associated with dateless plates. While this specific plate was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2015, its format aligns with the aesthetic of earlier registration eras, which collectors often value. It sold for £900 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £1,166.
