992 XX private number plate

This dateless registration, 992 XX, offers a distinctive five-character format. The three numbers followed by two letters present a clean and symmetrical layout, a characteristic sought after by collectors. The XX initials, while niche, can appeal to specific personal preferences.

The registration also holds a direct connection to motoring enthusiasts. The number 992 precisely mirrors the current generation code for the Porsche 911. This makes the plate highly relevant for owners or admirers of this iconic model, aligning with the significant buyer interest in registrations that directly reference vehicle designations.

Furthermore, the presence of repeating letters in the XX combination adds a notable visual appeal. Repetition within a registration can enhance memorability and stylistic symmetry, a feature that appeals to collectors looking for distinctive characters.

This particular registration was released to the open market via DVLA auction in 2025. It sold for £10,510 (hammer price). With auction fees, the estimated total paid by the buyer was £13,495.
